Over the last few years, after COVID and various other crises, the global supply chain fell apart. Many people waited weeks or even months for online purchases to be delivered. It became commonplace for stores to have less inventory available. At the supermarkets, Americans experienced what is common in many other parts of the world - bare grocery shelves.
We had gotten used to a world without seasons. Amazon Prime could deliver most purchases to our homes the next day.
Even though a farmer might consider a strawberry, brussel sprout, or pumpkin seasonal, most fruits and vegetables were available at our stores year-round from 1990 to 2020. But this is not reality - fruits and vegetables do grow in seasons. There are times of planting and times of reaping. And nothing healthy or important genuinely arrives at our door instantly. Important things take time.
