Even the Eagle Has Blindspots

“Eagle eye” is a common phrase that describes a person’s keen insight or actual eyesight. The dictionary defines the word as…

  1. Keen eyesight.

  2. The ability or tendency to observe closely or pay attention to detail.

    "monitors expenses with an eagle eye."

  3. One that observes with close attention

I find it interesting that, even eagles, with their famous eyesight, have a blindspot. An eagle’s eyes can see 340 degrees - given the bird greater visibility than any other creature. But that last 20 degrees, or last 5%, gives the bird a blindspot.

Here’s what we can discern from this aspect of the eagle:

  • Your personal perspective on your identity is essential, but incomplete. The lesson for us as believers is that our identity in Christ is so essential, and the key ingredient for our personal growth - but it’s also incomplete.
