”The big work of our lives is the work of identity. To end one’s life knowing who we are, were, and possibly will be, that is the art of life. Our identity is the sum of our experiences but is also independent of those. It’s something inherent, innate, and inward. In a way, knowing our inner identity allows us to interpret the world outside.

As I reflected on in my journal two years ago, building an identity is a life’s work. As I began to ponder the way in which we build our identity I was drawn to the concept of a house. The different layers of our own identity can be correlated to the layers of a home, inside, outside, and below.
